Return of the Past
Sir John Soane's Museum, London

16 May - 27 August 2018

A temporary exhibition on the early radical moment of Postmodernism in British architecture, in the home of Sir John Soane.

The exhibition presented a selection of pivotal works by Postmodernism's principal protagonists in the UK – Jeremy Dixon, Terry Farrell, Piers Gough, John Outram and James Stirling/Michael Wilford. The exhibition included a range of original drawings, models and images, as well as full-scale replicas and fragments of actual buildings.

Working closely with curator Owen Hopkins, we emphasised the continuity of the displayed objects and Soane's museum itself by using both the gallery spaces and the adjacent drawing rooms. New plinths resonated with Soane's interiors, allowing the displayed objects to integrate with the Grade I listed building and its collection.
